    PROJECTS

Traffic planning for the inner city distribution system in Durban
A micro-simulation model (Aimsun) was used to study, evaluate and improve the flows for pedestrians, cars and public transport vehicles in the central business district.  This involved optimising the traffic signal timings at intersections and synchronising the major traffic flow movements between intersections to reduce stops and delays.  A similar project has been completed on five suburban road corridors in Johannesburg, involving a total of about 40 intersections.
